BS 5837 - Planning Applications and trees

Planning applications for sites with existing trees often require the use of British Standard 5837: 2005. This standard requires trees to be surveyed and a Tree Constraints Plan to be produced. An Arboricultural Implications Aassessment can be developed, once the nature of the proposed development is known. Suitable tree protection measures need to be drawn up, respecting root protection areas, based on indivdual tree sizes. Often a method statement is useful to identify to all parties what needs to be done.

Arboricultural site supervision is increasingly the norm, allowing problems to be identified before they occur and building works to proceed uninterrupted.

Duramen can provide advice on trees to support all stages of planning applications, including planning appeals and has experience of successful applications with Councils throughout South East England. Please call Dr Jon Heuch on 0800 311 8133 to discuss your needs further.
